  • The basics of ‘model-free control' and of the corresponding ‘intelligent’ controllers, which had already many concrete applications, are presented. The strange industrial ubiquity of classic PIDs and the great difficulty for tuning them is deduced from their connections with our intelligent controllers. We conclude by listing many situations where our setting has been shown to be useful. Interested readers may look at the following paper: Fliess, M., & Join, C. (2013). Model-free control. International Journal of Control, 86, 2228–2252 (https://dx.doi.org/10.1080/00207179.2013.810345), where the theoretical tools are detailed.
