  • Dr.-Ing. Timm Faulwasser, head of the Advanced Control Group at IAI, has received a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship of the Daimler and Benz Foundation. In a selective process his project “Robustifying Model-Based Climate Economy Assessment” has been chosen as one of twelve funded proposals, whereby more than 180 proposals have been submitted.

The project aims at the development of efficient numerical methods allowing for quantification of long-term economic costs of greenhouse gas emissions. The core focus of the project is the development of model-based methods for computation the Social Cost of Carbon whereby explicit consideration of uncertainty in models and data is a key concern. The project, which is located at the interface of mathematical systems theory and economics, is embedded in a cooperation with partners from the University of Bayreuth (Germany), New School of Social Research (USA) and the University of Newcastle (Australia).
