  • Body Energy Harvesting goes EXPO 2017!
The IAI was invited to showcase two different systems for converting energy from body motions into electrical energy at the world EXPO in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Smartphones and mobile medical devices have to be recharged regularly. However, battery storage is limited and alternatives are needed to ensure the use of these devices round-the-clock.
Body Energy Systems are one solution to this and they have shown practicability in self-winding watches for decades.
Several system were designed at the Institute for Applied Computer Science (IAI) to convert body motions into electrical energy. They can be used to charge a smartphone during walking or be integrated into a prosthetic foot.
The exhibit is located in the ‘Kinetic Lab‘ of their Future Energy museum in the ‘Sphere’, the central showroom building of the host country until September 10. https://expo2017astana.com/en/),
