Deep dive into energy research: launch of the Smart Energy System Lab

On May 18, the “Smart Energy System Lab” laboratory started for the summer semester 2026.

We are delighted to welcome 22 enthusiastic students from the departments of computer science, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering.

Over the next two weeks, the students will work in eleven project teams side by side with researchers from the IAI, ITEP and ETI on current issues in the KIT Energy Lab.

We are trying to make the research process tangible in a highly condensed form: From experiment planning, execution, the defense of method and results in front of peers as well as the later concise write-up in the style of a scientific publication.
