The research group “Additive Materials Engineering (AddME)” conducts research on novel processes, materials and systems for additive manufacturing, data- and perception-based robotics, and materials safety.
The focus is on developments in materials science, process engineering and AI-supported technologies for real-world industrial applications.
The research group develops and investigates innovative methods for characterizing and optimizing 3D inkjet printing.
As part of the Karlsruhe Nano Micro Facility (KNMFi), the research group addresses key topics relating to materials, processes and post-processing in additive manufacturing:
- Optimization of printing parameters for polymer-based UV-curable materials
- 3D printing of biodegradable polymers and hybrid systems
- Development of a post-processing workflow
Within the framework of industry-oriented research, the AddME group combines additive manufacturing with intelligent robotic systems.
Another focus of the working group is material safety. This includes: the assessment of toxicological and safety-relevant properties and the derivation of safe process and handling guidelines.
